The city of Saskatoon is an excellent place to break up a journey if you’re planning a Canadian road trip that incorporates experiences on the east and west coasts. It is strategically situated as a wonderful rest break before travelling to Alberta and is located inside the province of Saskatchewan. In addition, it’s the ideal size in between, so even if you only have two days, you won’t feel rushed. There is enough to do. Here is what we advise you to do.
Wanuskewin Heritage Park
Despite the modern features of the city, Saskatoon’s history predates the arrival of European settlers. The Wanuskewin Heritage Park is devoted to examining indigenous tribes’ way of life and their sacred connection to the surrounding environment. A gallery with works by First Nation artists that focus on traditional, historical, and contemporary styles may be seen inside the visitor centre.
Prairie River Boat Cruise
Saskatoon is located in the picturesque prairies, so taking a day to explore the surrounding area is a must. There are a few river cruise providers to select from, but they all go the same route. A few also provide sunset cruises, Sunday brunch cruises, and supper cruises.
Western Development Museum
Visit the Western Development Museum to see an accurate recreation of Saskatoon in 1910 for another look at the city’s past. It’s around 4 km south of Downtown, and it has a jail, a dentist, a pharmacy, railroads, and tractors, among other things.
Spend your evening on Broadway Avenue
Saskatoon, a charming prairie city, has a large city feel thanks to its own Broadway district. The primary dining, entertainment, and shopping district of the city is located at the southern end of Broadway Avenue. Additionally, it is where the Saskatoon Fringe Theatre Festival is held each year.
Ukrainian Museum of Canada

The state of Saskatchewan has the largest amount of road surface out of all Canadian provinces, but before then it relied heavily on its rail system. At the Saskatchewan Railway Museum, discover how the first rail route changed Saskatchewan life and was an important part of agriculture.
